كان الهواء والأرض ابنة : صدى . عاشة هذه الحورية الساحرة في الغابة إلى جانب آلهة أرتميس . وذهبت من الأنهار إلى السيول. الأشجار بمثابة سقف ، الطحالب وبراعم السرير للشباب . كانت لا تعرف العذاب ولا الملل. في أحد الأيام عندما كانت تتعثر مع الحوريات الأخرى ، اتهمت الإلهة هيرا صدى العظماء بحب زوجها غير المخلص. لقد كان ظلمًا ، لكن هيرا ، الذي أعمى الغضب ، رفض الاستماع إلى إيكو ، الذي ناشده. Narcissus' madness had not eased Echo's pain. She continued to watch over him. And when Narcissus said goodbye to his own reflection, Echo repeated softly, sadly: "Goodbye ..." Today, the nymph has lost so much weight that only her voice remains. And, from the bottom of his cave, Echo repeats again the last words of the words addressed to him.
